Architecture Prototypes and Experiments X
The Aram Gallery
Our work was included in the tenth edition of Prototypes and Experiments, an exhibition at The Aram Gallery exploring the role of physical models in the architectural design process. Running since 2008, Prototypes and Experiments reveals the often-unseen stages of design across disciplines. This edition brought together a range of practices to show how models are used not only for presentation, but as active tools for testing ideas, studying massing and façades, exploring construction, and evoking spatial atmosphere. The exhibition also featured material palettes, colour studies, prototypes, and 1:1 mock-ups—offering a window into each studio’s creative process. Each piece was accompanied by commentary, reflecting The Aram Gallery’s interest in how designers think and communicate three-dimensionally.
Presented in collaboration with Architectural Models in Context: Creativity, Skill and Spectacle, an AHRC-funded research network hosted by the V&A Museum exploring the past, present, and future of architectural model-making. Co-participants included: 31/44, Adjaye Associates, alma-nac, dRMM, David Kohn Architects, East, estudio b, Feilden Fowles, IF_DO, James Macdonald Wright & Niall Maxwell, Mary Duggan Architects, Neri & Hu, Office S&M, Piercy & Company, PUP Architects, Roz Barr Architects, Studio Weave, Tonkin Liu, vPPR.
